What: So, after much research, we’ve decided to go with a torch down roof. The problems with spray foam are 1. we couldn’t find a spray foam roofing company that we felt good about and 2. the cost. The price of a spray foam roof has almost doubled in less than 2 years.
When: Next week!
Who: We’ve decided to hire SBR Roofing, a family company. Gary Stewart, the fella that runs the company, has been very confidence-instilling.
This change of plan may mean that we will be insulating from below and drywalling over our beautiful rough beams, but if that’s the case, so be it. At the end of the day, exposed beams are not worth $3000 to us, which is the difference between the cost of a spray foam or isoboard roof and a torch down roof.
Cue the broken record: I am really looking forward to this roof being finished so that we can get back to the Upper Yard. I can’t wait to make something beautiful. Fire pit, screening wall, lawn, bar – here we come!
That’s all the roof news for now – I’ll keep you posted as more comes in :)

Yay!!!! I REALLY hope you get to keep your exposed beams, though. I LOVE the rustic look of beams and I think it would match your taste perfectly. Crossing my fingers for you! xoxo Talia
