The Roof: What's Left

The Roof: What’s Left

April 16, 2011 |  by Brooke Tansley

Today we began demoing the old flashing on the parapets and trimming out the parapet walls.

Here’s what’s been done:
- roof demolition
- insulation removal
- new support beams stained and installed
- new rafters stained and installed
- triple the support for our center beam
- all of the sheathing cut
- all of the sheathing painted
- all but one piece of the sheathing tied down

Here’s what’s yet to be done:
- flashing
- demoing old flashing on the parapets
- trimming out the parapets and parapet walls
- tie down last piece of sheathing
- sweep

Probably another 11-12 solid, full-time days of work. Which could take another month, depending on how many days we get to work. Ugh.

  1. Hi I found your blog through Picket Fence blogs. Looks like you have accomplished a lot on your roof, though there is still some to do! I just finished roofing my house, and it rained the entire time. I wish you guys better luck and weather then I had!

  2. Thank you, Lindsey! How did you ever do it in all that rain?
