… from our referrers and sponsors! Thank you all so much!
Our sponsor, Sweet Resurrection!
The economy turned down, but despite losing her job, Jennifer Hanover’s future was looking up. She had the fashion design background and the desire to create, yet in an effort to live a greener life, didn’t want to introduce more waste into the world. Out of the ashes and into the zeitgeist, Sweet Resurrection was born.
Beginning with old clothing and curtains already in her home, she created beautiful bags that were green without sacrificing a thing on the style front. She resurrected the old, breathing new life into each piece. She sources materials from estate sales, flea markets, Goodwill, Savers, and thrift stores, and especially likes when she finds material at Goodwill or Savers because her work is then also helping others. Materials range in age from 1900s through the 1990s (occasionally present day) and tell the story of their time period, from feedsacks from early 1900s Austria to 1970s flower curtains. These elements meet up with today’s trends and the current season’s styles in each bag.
All bags are hand crafted in the USA in Miss Hanover’s home studio, with all material, save hardware, repurposed and upcycled. Care is taken with every detail. Each bag comes with a recycled paper card inside that tells the owner of the bag that bag’s backstory. Even the label is made from repurposed bamboo slat blinds. In an effort to create less waste, the hang tags are made from wildflower plantable paper. Just return the tag to the earth.
All bags are unique and one of a kind. There are similar styles but there will never be two exact copies of the same bag. Since all of Sweet Resurrection‘s bags are made from used fabrics and trims, there maybe signs of wear or small imperfections from its past life. These just add to beauty and story of the bag.
A special thank you to our top five referrers!
